About Us
The Shoham high school team OnyxTronix #2231 competed for 17 years in the FIRST Robotics Competition under the global organization FIRST.
The team was founded in 2006 and currently consists of 50 students from sophomores to seniors.
accompanied by FIRST alumni and mentors from different fields of study, the team builds a robot for each yearly challenge, and develops it over the course of six weeks, from the initial prototype
to a working robot.
The team is divided to four working groups: Mechanics, Control (programmers and electronics), strategy and community & marketing.
In addition, the team gathers resources, organizes social activities for the community and represents itself and FIRST in general.
OnyxTronix #2231 counts as one of the leading teams in Israel, and is listed among the top teams in the world.
For 3 years in a row, the team represented Israel in the global competition, and reached many admirable accomplishments, and awards.
The team develops the community around it, and contributes to it. The team mentors 9 local robotics teams, between ages 10 through 15, up to 100 students in Shoham and Beit-Dagan.
Our Vision
We believe in the right and duty of everyone to develop themselves in a safe and accepting environment that encourages learning, initiative thinking, community involvement and self-fulfillment.
All of the above is possible by planning, developing and creating a strategic robot while building a heritage based on introducing science and
technology in society.
Our Team’s Structure
In our team we have 4 work-teams.
Every team has a team leader which is coordinated by the team's main Captain.
The captain's job is to prioritize and coordinate the work between every team.
Strategy Team
is responsible for the analysis of the annual game, building strategy methods, scouting and field crew including drivers, human player and coach.
Community Team
is responsible for the community activities on behalf of the team, marketing, advertising and branding, award nominations, mentoring young FIRST teams in our hometown and team bonding.
Control Team
is responsible for the programming and electronics. Writing the code for the robot (JAVA) and wiring the complete circuit board.
is responsible for the planning, sketching, manufacture and assembly of the robot. We sketch in the program SolidWorks, and manufacture in our workshop on the CNC machine.
