Within this project we made together with the town’s kid’s a series of different science related experiments during lockdown.
Every experiment put an emphasis on different science principles.
A-Part of FIRST
The Hannukah challenge, partnered with FIRST Israel, for the FRC teams in Israel. After winning in the 2020 “Hackathon” we created the idea of the challenge, that started in December of 2020. A-Part of FIRST is a competitive challenge that involves many assignments for the work groups inside of the teams. There are 7 categories, for the different subjects - schematics, strategy, IT, electronics, community, media and social.

about the challenge
Mentoring
Throughout the years of our activity, we have made it our personal mission to introduce FIRST to our community but also help the youth reach significant goals within their teams. In Shoham, there are 11 FIRST teams. We as a team support these teams in any way we can in order for them to continue to learn and expand their knowledge in many important fields, flourish, enjoy and rise as a team but more importantly, as individuals or as we see them; young leaders.
We take mentoring very seriously, which is why every mentor from our team is thoroughly trained in all fields and in mentoring in particular before being assigned to a team. We were very ambitious about having FIRST be accessible and appealing to older students in our community. To achieve this, we collaborated with The Spikes to open the very first FTC team in Shoham- Super Cow, and we also opened another FTC team- Electro Birds.
Technological activity at "Shekel"
An activity for people with disabilities in the employment center “shekel” in collaboration with Primo #4586. During the activity we were divided into small groups. Every team built a robot system NXT, that built and programmed it so it will be able to pass through the obstacle course they built. During the building and programming of the robot, we showed our robot and explained about FIRST and the competitions we participate at.
Science Worksheets
During the covid-19 outbreak we published two worksheets that are about science and activities for the whole family. The worksheets have many riddles, sport activities, games, experiments and more.
Celebration in Green
Every year we participate in the anual “Celebration in Green” in the Shoham forest. Our team does an activity for the community from science to recycling and the quality of nature, the goal is to spread science. The end product is an item that can be used at home.
Oshpezoom Activity
With about 70 kids from Shoham, we made a homemade camera in the “Oshpezoom”, an activity related program by the parents board of Shoham, our hometown.
Muzot Festival
Every year we take part of Shoham’s “Muzot festival”. Among the many stands that you can’t find at the festival, it’s hard to miss the Teams stand where you can find our robot, A science related activity and a little explanation about our team and FIRST.
Dog Adoption Fair
In collaboration with “Round table” and “My friend” that are all about dog adoption, we created together a fair for dog adoption and fundraiser. At the fair we put up some game stands and science experiments for kids. The money from the fund raiser was donated to “Line for life”’ an organization that supports kids who suffer from complicated disabilities, rare syndromes and their families. At the fair we showed the Robofetch that was created to play with dogs using technology.
Robofetch
Robofetch is a the words “robot” and “fatch” combined. Robotfetch is a robot that is able to blast balls, and can be used to play with dogs. Every year we improve and renew the Robofetch and use it for different things. The Robofetch was presented in the adoption fair that we organized, we used the technology to play with the dogs.
Science Fair
A big fair that its purpose is to spread science and technology among the kids in Shoham, to interest them and enrich their knowledge.
Electronics Recycling Project
The goal of the project is to reduce pollution that is caused by electronics that are thrown to the garbage that aren’t meant to be there, and to enhance the awareness of recycling electronics. Although one of the key principles in our town, Shoham, is recycling and quality of nature, many of the citizens didn’t know that there is a recycling option like that. During the project, we collected from institutes in Shoham and the citizens different electronics
that aren’t in use anymore, that were mostly computers and printers, and all the equipment we gathered was given to recycling companies.
